The Sentinels of Pakenham St recreates one of my favourite Fremantle views. The mix of old and new architecture along Pakenham Street perfectly frames this view of the cranes, which is made even more spectacular by the play of light from the sun dipping below the building line.
PORT CITY EXHIBITION
Port City is a celebration of the many facets of Fremantle that I love. I moved to Fremantle with my family in 2019 and there is nowhere I have been prouder to call home. The unique blend of culture, arts, music, coastal living, tourism, and the ever present port industry create a strong sense of identity and community that is uniquely an unequivocally Freo.
This series of paintings is my ode to the place I now proudly call home, and a celebration of the beauty that is to be found at every turn, from the iconic sight of the fishing boat harbour, to the quiet suburban streets.
Winding its way through all these images is the narrative of a port community – one whose fortunes are intertwined with the bounties bought from the sea.
Whether you are a local or visitor to our fine city, I hope this collection of paintings capture some of the essence of your experience of this unique and beautiful place.
