This painting is a study of a cluster of eucalyptus flowers, which were captured on one of my many trips to Kings Park, botanical gardens in Perth, Western Australia. The colour of the seeds pods, set against the foliage of this specimen, were just magic. The lids of the pods in particular were beautiful in their intricacy and pattern. They looked like soft serve ice cream. The foliage and background in this particular painting have been kept fairly loose. There is a hint of the magenta ground peeping through the patchwork of blue sky, which compliments the floral cluster, and adds another level of interest to the painting.
