A new exploratory series of works, these bee paintings embody my unease about the decline of our insect populations. It's something that has been on my mind for a while.
Growing up in the country, I remember nights driving along when bugs were thick on the ground, the headlights illuminating a living sea in front of us. Can you remember the last time you experienced that? Or the last time you saw a Christmas beetle?
The humble bee is ‘the canary in the mine’ of climate change, as it is easy to imagine how a significant reduction in the bee population will have far reaching consequences for human kind.
