A joyful still life piece celebrating the heralding of spring. Poppy’s are a particular favourite of mine amongst the non-native spring blooms, and those beautiful, delicate pastel papery blooms, in contrast with the hairy green buds, always make me smile! The buerre bosc pear and bentwood chair, will be familiar to followers of my work. But new here is that juicy pink watermelon- a favourite of my son, but something I have not painted until now.
Those flowers were calling out for a punchy hit of pink in this arrangement, and so ‘The Spring Table’ was born. This painting has me excited about the warmer weather ahead, and I hope wherever it ends up, it brings a smile to the face of those that bask in it’s warmth.
